The CPK, MB Fraction (mass) test measures the concentration of the creatine phosphokinase MB isoenzyme in the blood. CPK is an enzyme found in heart, brain, and skeletal muscle, and the MB fraction is predominantly present in cardiac muscle. Elevated levels of CPK-MB indicate myocardial injury, such as heart attack, or other muscle damage. This test helps in diagnosing acute myocardial infarction, monitoring cardiac events, and assessing the extent of heart muscle damage. Results are interpreted alongside clinical findings and other cardiac biomarkers for accurate diagnosis and patient management.
