Anti HEV – IgM (Quantitative)

The Anti HEV – IgM (Quantitative) test is a blood test used to detect and measure Immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies specific to the Hepatitis E Virus (HEV). HEV is a major cause of acute viral hepatitis, usually transmitted through contaminated food or water. The presence of Anti-HEV IgM indicates a recent or ongoing infection, making this test useful in diagnosing acute hepatitis E, especially in patients presenting with symptoms such as jaundice, fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, nausea, or dark urine. Quantitative measurement helps assess antibody levels, disease progression, and immune response. This test is particularly important in endemic regions, in outbreak investigations, and in high-risk groups such as pregnant women or immunocompromised patients.
