AMH(Anti Mullerian Hormone), Mullerian Inhibiting Substance

The AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone), also known as Müllerian Inhibiting Substance (MIS), test measures the level of AMH in the blood. AMH is produced by cells in the ovaries in women and by the testes in men. In women, AMH levels reflect the ovarian reserve, which indicates the remaining quantity of eggs and overall fertility potential. It is widely used in fertility assessments, IVF planning, and to evaluate ovarian function or disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Low AMH levels may suggest reduced ovarian reserve or approaching menopause, while higher levels may indicate PCOS or certain ovarian tumors. In men, AMH testing may help assess testicular function or diagnose disorders of sex development.
